Ten Ways to a Better You in 2014

Ten Ways to a Better You in 2014

Life is demanding and hectic. With the demands of job and family, it’s easy to get caught in the cycle of not taking care of yourself. Before you can take care of anyone else-there’s one person who has to be in tip-top shape, YOU! Below are ten quick and easy ways to have a better year in 2014!

  1. Explore Your Hobbies- Make a list of all the activities you enjoy doing (or would like to do).  Next pick an activity from your list and engage in it every week/month. This is a great way to relieve stress, discover your passion and even start a side business. Bottom line you’ll feel better about yourself when you do things you enjoy.
  2. Schedule “ME” time every week- Make it a priority to spend at least one to two hours a week solo. If it means picking up the kids later from daycare, leaving work an hour early or even locking your room door and leaving the kids with your partner. This time allows time for reflection and relaxation.
  3. Spend time with friends- A good group of friends goes a long way. You can be yourself, vent, and talk about the things you wouldn’t dare mention to your partner/kids.
  4. Take extra care with your appearance- Accentuate your best features and work on any problem areas.
  5. Treat yourself every payday- Every time you get paid treat yourself to something nice. I know times are tight so it could be a bottle of nail polish, a book or even a pair of earrings. Nurturing yourself makes you give your best in work and at home.
  6. Have good sex with your partner. If you’re single have good sex with yourself-Bring the spice back in your sex life. Experiment with toys, videos, and new positions. Role playing can also cause things to sizzle. If you’re single, treat yourself to a new sex toy and enjoy an experience with the person who knows exactly what you need to feel pleasure-YOU!
  7. Make healthier food choices- Your body will feel better if you feed it healthier food. Start by filling half your plate with vegetables (a salad, beans, etc.). Cut your fried food intake to no more than once a week and your soda intake as well.
  8. Become more physical- Walking briskly just twice a week for thirty minutes will improve so many things in your body (including your mood). Exercise is also a good stress reliever.
  9. Spend quality time with family: Have family night at least once a month and spend one on one time with each of your children (separately) at least once a month. Bonding with the people you care about it, makes you feel better.
  10. Meditate/Practice Your Faith: Start going to your church, mosque or synagogue more often. Pray and meditate daily. Your faith keeps you balanced and focused.

Have a Wonderful and Happy New Year!
